daddy-daughter date

Rick took Reagan on her first daddy-daughter date last night. They went to the library and had a picnic on the lawn with other daddies and their daughters. She talked about it all day, and couldn't wait to leave me and Kennedy. When she got home she ran into the house yelling, "Mommy I had soooo much fun!" Meanwhile Kennedy and I got some Mommy-Daughter bonding time (as if she needed to be anymore bonded/glued to me...) We all really enjoyed it, and decided we will make it a weekly ritual hopefully, but we will switch children each time.

Another update: I was very annoyed at always having to find Kennedy's binky, so I decided tuesday morning that she was done. She was a little unhappy with my decision for the first few hours (she used it allllll the time). But she only cried for about 5 minutes at nap time before falling asleep. Now she sometimes whimpers for a minute or two when I lay her down, but then she is out! Yippee!! I hated always having to keep track of binkys everywhere we went. So she has officially been without it for 60 hours exactly!

in action

Now that my camera is broken, I have resorted to using my video camcorder more often. So until I can post pictures again, here are some recent videos to tide you over.

This is Kennedy learning to blow kisses.

This is Reagan and Kennedy enjoying the cardboard playhouse I made them. Reagan loves to find ways to make Kennedy laugh, then does it over and over and over and over...

I finally found a girly playhouse on Craigslist that wasn't way overpriced, so we bought it for the backyard. When we were bringing it home, Rick didn't notice some pieces fly out of the truck. (Well he thought he may have seen something so he called me to ask and I didn't know any of the pieces came off.) Anyways, he got home and we unloaded the playhouse and I realized that three pieces were missing - a corner chair, the sink and the stove. So lucky Rick got to walk along the highway in the dark searching for the missing pieces. He did manage to find all three, without damage! Yay for a great husband! The girls love the playhouse!

picture this

Kennedy broke our camera, so you will just have to try to visualize this. Walking in our subdivision down to the little park by the beach. Two girls super excited to take their sandals off and walk in the sand. Kennedy notices the water and makes a mad dash for it. I hold her hand while she walks in the water so she won't fall in, but she manages to soak her onesie anyways. I try to take Kennedy back to the park where Reagan is playing, but she keeps trying to trick us and book it to the water. Meanwhile Reagan wants to swing and they only have regular swings, not bucket swings. She is having fun, holding on for dear life. Kennedy is mad that she keeps getting thwarted in her plans to completely submerge herself in the water (stupid mom didn't think to put her in a swimsuit). So, I hold her hand and walk with her in the water again - both girls are happy. Then Reagan lets go, falls on her face, and begins screaming. She has a skinned knee and chin, and a bloody lip. I pick up Kennedy to go help Daddy calm Reagan down. Kennedy freaks out that we are leaving the water. We walk back to our house with two screaming children, both covered in sand, one soaking wet and one covered in ouchies. Nice night, huh?!

she loves her daddy

Yesterday when Rick was heading out to work Kennedy followed him to the door. She watched him through the window, and he played peek-a-boo with her once for her to wave to him. Then he got in his car and drove to work. Kennedy then started banging on the window yelling "Da-da, Da-da" repeatedly. After about 2 minutes of this, she finally gave up, sat down and started whining/crying. She sat there upset that he had left for a couple minutes until I realized she was not going to get over it on her own. So I picked her up and took her in the toy room. She was then happy for the rest of the day. But that didn't mean she wasn't still missing him. When Rick finally came home she gave him the biggest grin ever, held out her arms and snuggled into his chest. Yeah, she loves him!
