more fall outings

For playgroup this past week we decided to go to the Cider Mill. We let the kiddos play in the play area, went for a hayride, had some lunch, some donuts and cider... Mmmm, the best fall days include donuts and cider. :)

Me and my girlies on the hayride.

Reagan was sooooo excited when her friend Chloe showed up to play!

The gang on the hayride.

Cindy and her super smiley son, Dylan.

Kennedy got extra brave this time and went head first!

Reagan and Bentley being silly!

Sooooo happy!
I really do enjoy fall, I just absolutely despise winter! Let's hope fall lasts for a long time.

random tidbits

Now that I have finally decided to do a better job at updating the blog, here is a little brief catch-up...

Reagan just turned 4. We have started homeschooling, and do it only for a short period each day. Mainly because I haven't completely figured out how to teach both girls or how to keep Kennedy engaged in other activities while I work with Reagan. She absolutely loves Strawberry Shortcake, Princesses, Fairies, etc... She reads chapter books frequently, and loves the different fairy series (sports fairies, weather fairies...) She loves to sing along to Rick's music. He burned a couple CDs for driving to Boston, and Reagan requests them by name and even knows what number they are. She learned to swim this summer with floaties on, and is very proud of that accomplishment. She also likes to ride her bike and her scooter.

Kennedy is 2 years and 4 months. She adores her big sister and always wants to play together. They are absolutely the best of friends. Kennedy is much braver than Reagan and willingly tries new things. She was a little scared of swimming, but I finally taught her to swim with floaties on for short distances. She also learned to pedal her trike! She knows her ABCs by sight, her numbers 1-10 by sight. She loves to color, draw, cut, glue, and do anything crafty. That is basically the only way I can keep her entertained while Reagan and I work on schooling. She has the best imagination, and continues to astound me with her vocabulary. She has been speaking in complete sentences for a year now, but sounds like an adult now. Just last night I told her to find something on the bookshelf. Her response was, "Which bookshelf Mommy, the one on the left or the one on the right?" Apparently she picked up left and right from listening to Reagan and I.

Now here are a few pictures to catch us up...

Reagan in her Silvermist dress (thanks Aunt Judy!)
Petting the piglets at the petting farm with Noah.

Feeding the goats with Noah and Dylan

Running, Climbing and Jumping at the farm.

Enjoying the beach with Skyler for Labor day weekend.

It was gorgeous, and the kids never tired of playing in the sand.

I just love this picture.

Never tired of sweet deals. This purchase cost $73.

Made my first banana cream pie for my Dad's birthday.

He was King of the Day, homemade crown and all. Look at those cheesey princesses!

They insisted on helping me make Grandpa's pie.

Rolling the graham crackers for the crust.
And last, but not least. A short clip of each girl swimming.

one reason why I love fall

Going to the Cider Mill is so fun/relaxing. There is an orchard not too far from our house that has a great kid play area. We have already spent two evenings there, and we hope to go there again for playgroup tomorrow.

We fed the goats, which is kinda cool. They have to go up a ramp to this bridge over our heads, and we use a pully to take food up to them. The kids thought it was really neat.

Measuring everyone to see if they've grown! Rick is about the same as last year :)

Reagan has grown quite a bit!

Kennedy has made it to the 3 foot mark!

Getting brave on the slides, trying it on her belly.

Racing Daddy. I think Reagan won!

I love this picture.

Aren't these slides super cool??

The girls could play on them for hours. And they did.

Oh yeah, and their Cider and Donuts make me drool.

Strawberry Shortcake

Reagan turned 4! He birthday party was a Strawberry Shortcake theme because she LOVES everything Strawberry Shortcake! It was really fun, and she said it was her best party! She loves playing with her friends and cousins, seeing all of her family, and (of course) getting presents.

Me and my big girl on her special day!

Playing some imagination game with her cousins. They all have different phones or walkie-talkies.

Some of the SS characters that I drew, along with the strawberry balloons I made.

Playing with Brendan before the party started. He made the girls laugh so hard!

The kiddos having a picnic on the floor. As luck would have it, 3 out of 4 of her parties have had horrible weather. So we were stuck inside.

Hitting the strawberry pinata, which turned out to be indestructable.

Even Austin couldn't get it to break...

Reagan impressed everyone with her powerhouse swing.

Pin the tail on Chocolate Chipmunk.

Kalli taking a turn.

Picking out some bracelets: Strawberry Shortcake, Princesses, and Farm (for the boys).

So excited to get Blueberry Muffin. (Molly really wants to play with it)

Showing off her new toy.

"It's what I wished for!" she exclaimed.

Her homemade halloween costume from my mom and dad. (She's Belle, in case you aren't in with the Princess world.)

Wow, she is 4!

Thanks for a wonderful birthday!

the fire station

Today our playgroup took a field trip to the fire station. It was such a great idea (by my awesome friend Cindy). We watched a little video about fire safety, then they showed us their equipment and let the kiddos play in the truck.

Sitting on the truck while the flashers were on!
Trying out the seats where the firemen sit. The seatbelts were a little difficult to figure out.

Kennedy loves being around kids, so she was in heaven!

Showing the kids the "key" to get into their house

Demonstrating how to escape a fire "fall and crawl"

Reagan wasn't scared of him!

Fully outfitted fireman!

Showing us what the gear is made of.

This counted as school today, we just came home and made pictures and narrated what we learned today.
We will have to schedule some more outings like this, what a blast!
