cherishing the moments

The countdown to Kennedy's arrival has begun, and it seems like there just isn't enough time to play! Although my back is killing me, I'm trying to take advantage of all the time I have left as a mommy to one. I'm not even worried slightly about the labor and delivery. I am just worried about how Reagan will do being away from me for a couple days, and then having me return with a new baby. I can't wait to have two wonderful daughters, but for the meantime I am loving every minute with just one. We have been super busy playing the past couple of weeks, so here are some of the highlights...

Reagan found Daddy's cones that he uses for flag football. She loves to play with them all the time, and especially likes to put them on Mommy and Daddy's heads.
.

This was our first picnic of the year! Daddy took us to get sandwiches from the Copper Pickle Deli, and we took them to the park. Afterwards he surprised us by taking us to Coldstone for some yummy, yummy ice cream. Now Reagan likes to say, "Chocolate, thank you!"
.

It doesn't matter what we are doing, Reagan just loves to be outside! Yippee! That is where mommy prefers to be 3 seasons of the year!
.

Reagan figured out that Mr. Potato Head's body parts look even better on her! Here she is sporting his pearly whites!
.

We like to walk down by the lake, which is only about a 7 minute walk. Reagan likes to say hi to the "barn" on the other side. It is actually a house, but she thinks it looks like a barn. So everytime we leave she says "Bye-bye Barn. See you another day!"
.

Don't know where these came from, but after bathtime Reagan's curls show up. However, after she sleeps on them they tend to disappear.
.

Reagan bought daddy a toy basketball hoop for his birthday. I think it was meant for more than just him, what do you think?!
.

Our first yard sale find of the year - a little tykes slide for the backyard!
.

We discovered some pretty flowers in our front yard, so naturally Reagan had to smell them. Then she promptly copies the animals from Baby Einstein by pretending to sneeze on them!

.

Reagan has also learned the months of the year and the planets. So I am officially out of ideas on what to teach her next. Maybe she will be okay taking a short break from learning until after Kennedy arrives! There will be plenty to learn with a new baby around!

She is too precious for words!!

poor man's superhero

A few weeks ago, Reagan decided she wanted to wear her "blankie" as a cape. We had just come in from outside, where she was bundled up in her snow gear. That is why she is wearing a onesie, tights, and socks over them (or she just takes after me when it comes to fashion...) She danced around for a bit, sang a few songs, and then cast a few spells with her "wand." Rick apparently didn't find her costume all too impressive, since he called her the poor man's superhero.

grown-ups?

We had another one of our playdates with the Rolls and the Prossers a couple weeks ago. Steph and Mitch hosted, and let us terrorize their house and their yard! Once we got home and I was looking at the pictures I took of our outing, it hit me that we are grown-ups. We are no longer those young couples anymore, but full-blown families! The men enjoyed throwing the football around. The kids explored, watched the chickens, and played on the swing and slide. The women enjoyed the sunshine and the great company!

Skyler and Reagan wandering around the yard...

The men enjoying their food (and watching the women feed the children)...

Feeding four children at once is quite a production!
We are lucky to have such great friends around to have dates with!

high knees

Reagan had lots of fun with her Uncle Dallas and Aunt Amber this weekend. Can you tell?

good ideas

Thanks to fresh ideas from family and friends, I have been able to teach Reagan some new things...

  1. Reagan can spell her name.
  2. She knows the seasons.
  3. She now knows all of the days of the week.
  4. She can count to 30.
  5. She knows eyes, ears, mouth, nose, hands, and feet in spanish.
  6. She can tell boys and girls apart.
