I feel like I never remember to actually document what the girls are doing anymore. I was so good at it when it was just Reagan, but somehow with two girls it just hasn't been a priority. I want to do better though, so here is a snapshot at what we are all up to in our neck of the woods.
Kennedy. 20 months. She wants to be playing with Reagan all the time. If you give her anything she immediately asks for one for Reagan. She simply loves being with Reagan. And they get along for the most part. She has such an imagination. Just this morning she came running up to me and said, "Mommy, swiper trying to swipe Kendy's pink bucket!" She then turned around stuck out her hand and said, "Swiper no swiping" three times. She loves to go on rescue missions and retrieve lost stuffed animals. She loves playing big girl games like Sequence for Kids and Candy Land. She is getting really good at doing puzzles too. Kennedy loves to play Hide and Seek and immediately sits on the floor covers her eyes and counts to 10, 15 or 20 (depending on what number Reagan told her to count to) by herself and then goes to find Reagan. She is even getting pretty good at hiding herself. Even though she normally comes out when anyone says, "Where's Kennedy?" She has learned her colors and shapes. Knows her animals and what sounds they make. Sings the ABCs. Knows what her play food items are and can say prayers all by herself. Some of these things she has been doing for quite a while, but I can't remember if I ever posted about it. She sings songs with Reagan all the time. Her favorite is still Twinkle, twinkle little star. She loves doing the hokey pokey and going on a bear hunt. Her hair is long enough to put in pigtails, and she loves wearing barrettes. She loves putting on shoes, and she loves to snuggle! She is soooo much fun.
Reagan. 3 years 4 months. She loves playing with Kennedy. I am still stunned at how well they play together. Reagan spends tons of time reading. and reading. and reading. We got her her first chapter books for Christmas. She has finished one and is reading the next one in the series, Weather Fairies. I also got her Ivy + Bean, which she just started today. She is really quite good at comprehending what she is reading. I started reading Charlotte's Web to the girls during breakfast and lunch, and Reagan loves it. (Kennedy doesn't really pay much attention to it). Reagan loves ballet and finished her first session in December. We plan to sign her up again soon, since she wants to be in her leotard all the time. She just started sunbeams at church, and so far is doing really well. We never let her go to nursery because of sharing toys and germs and getting sick. But no toys in sunbeams really, and she loves it. She sings her primary songs everywhere and always asks me to turn on her church songs for her to sing along with. She is totally music oriented. She loves to sing the hymns with us at church, since she just reads along. She sometimes sings the wrong notes since she doesn't always know the songs. But it is wonderful and adorable. I never tire of listening to her sing, unless it is an hour after I have laid her down for bed. She loves the snow. I mean LOVES. We played in it for at least an hour yesterday and she did not want to come in. She runs in it, jumps in it, swims in it, slides in it, kicks it, throws it, builds with it... Everything with snow is fun! She has her moments where she is very stubborn, but she is really very sweet. When my Aunt was dying last week, Reagan wanted my Uncle to be happy. She said she wanted to hug him, but I told her she couldn't go to the hospital. Instead she wrote him a note that said, "I love you Jack Reagan" and then hugged and kissed the paper for me to give him. She said it would make him feel better. She is just the sweetest girl ever.
Rick. Keeping busy at work. He is also the Young Men's President and keeps pretty busy with that. The Young Men at church really look up to him and think he is so hilarious (don't we all?) He sings in the choir, and plays the piano in Priesthood. He is just very talented, and I am glad he has a chance to use those talents. He blew out his knee the day before Thanksgiving, playing basketball at the church. He is trying to strengthen it now, and hopes to be back into his sports by spring. He was wonderful with the girls while I spent numerous days at the hospital with family. He knew that was where I needed to be, so he voluntarily took days off from work and had so much fun with the girls that they hardly even missed me. He is a wonderful husband!
Katie. Keeping busy at home. I am the Laurel advisor at church (I teach the 16-18 year old women). I am also the Girls Camp Director, so I have been planning fundraisers with the girls. I am in the process of planning out a curriculum for both of my girls to homeschool them starting in the fall. I am still teaching them some things here and there, but realized that for me to completely implement a homeschool curriculum, there are many more resources I want and need. So we will start in the fall when Reagan is four and Kennedy is two. I have been checking out numerous resources from the library and reading tons. But wow, there are sooooo many resources. Plus, I didn't really realize that it is expensive to purchase curriculums for each subject. So I am doing all of my research before I dish out the money. I also play basketball each week and am trying to run most days to get in better shape.
Well that's us in a nutshell. Just trying to make it through the worst time of year - winter. I hope Spring comes early this year.
