We took off on another crazy "vacation" last monday. Left bright and early - 1:57 am. Yuck. But we prefer not to drive all through the night and be exhausted, while at the same time getting there early enough that the girls get to unwind before it is bedtime. So we embarked on our 15 hour drive (well 13.5 driving and 1.5 for breakfast, potty breaks, gas, and lunch). The girls were spectacular. Probably helped that Grandma came down on saturday and took us shopping to get the girls a new toy for the car, and supplied us with new books, movies, stickers, coloring books, etc... So the trip was as good as it could be, and we didn't even hit traffic till about an hour outside of Boston. I am still trying to recuperate from my return 15 hour drive (by myself, since Rick is still in Boston) so bear with me, it may take me a few days to get all the picture posted.
I was the one driving when the sun came up. It was gorgeous, so I tried to take some pictures while I was driving.

Reagan stayed awake for about 45 minutes after we loaded them in the car at 1:50 am. Then when the sun came up she asked, "can I open my eyes now?" I said of course, and she said, "are we in Boston?" Nope. Just Ohio. 11 more hours to go...

Kennedy was a great traveler, despite having to go potty every 1.5-2 hours.

We hopped on the subway the night we arrived, so Rick could find his building and see how long it would take him to get there. Any ideas what this statue is supposed to be?

We had a park just across the street from our hotel - which made happy girls and a happy Mommy.

We walked some of the freedom trail the first morning. This is Kennedy pretending she is reading the gravestones like Reagan. "This one says, here lies __." Then she would make up a name.

Reagan thought the gravestones were weird because everything was spelled funny. Ex. "Here lyes..."

Enjoying some smoothies to help us cool off at Boston Common.

The State House? I think. Probably should have written these things down.

Statue of someone - maybe Paul Revere? But he has another statue later on - so this could be someone else. Just realized the stone says a name - hmmmm... No idea.

Plaque at Boston Common.

The burial ground where Paul Revere was buried. Did you know they credit him with famous ride, but he actually got temporarily arrested while another man finished the job? Just something I read...

Benjamin Franklin Statue in front of the Old City Hall.

Riding the Democrat Donkey.

Some street performers we watched after lunch.

Then we went to the Cheesecake factory. The first time. Yep, we went twice. Seriously, is there anything yummier than Cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory? Maybe Stillwater's Spinach Artichoke dip. maybe.

It's fun to see some of the same sights I saw a few months ago. I think I would have definitely preferred to see them this time of year! I can't believe all these pics are from one day! Can't wait to see the rest.
Still smiling about the fact that Reagan was not only reading the gravestones, but knew things were mis-spelled. What a kid...
I love seeing them in this format with the commentary. ditto to what stephanie said.
Very cool trip. Your girls are great travelers!
