a mom of two

Wow, these past two weeks have been super busy! Being a mom of two is wonderful, but completely exhausting! Last week we had three doctor appointments (one for each of us), plus a not so happy trip to the lab for Reagan to have her blood drawn. On Friday our power was out for the day, so we went to Haslett to relax at Sue and Jack's pool. Skyler and Steph came over for a playdate, we went to the park for a playgroup, went to a birthday party for some of Reagan's friends, put in a garden, started painting the trim on our house, visited Dad at the hospital, and still managed to sleep a little. Here are lots of pictures of our past two weeks. Happy 7 week birthday tomorrow Kennedy!

What better way to beat the heat than at Sue and Jack's? Reagan even got in the big pool and loved it! Hopefully we will be there again tomorrow, if the storms miss us!

I told Rick, I may be more exhausted than him at the end of the day, but my job is way better than his! Staying at home is the best!

On Sunday Rick was able to give Kennedy a beautiful blessing at church. We were fortunate enough to have some family and friends that were able to attend. Dad is still in the hospital, though, so he wasn't able to make it. My mom somehow found the time to still make Kennedy a blessing dress, so both girls have a keepsake from their blessings. It was a wonderful day!

Great Grandma came to visit last week and we spent Memorial Day with her. We had a wonderful barbeque at the Crosses, and the kids had a blast with the pools, water, and bubbles. Here are a few highlights...

first outings

We bought a double jogging stroller for our girls (thank you Grandparents for contributing!) This was their first outing together. We walked the trails in our subdivision, and surprisingly, both of our girls enjoyed it!

We spent an evening at the park with Grandma and the Stumps. Reagan loved it, as you can see...

Kennedy is awake a little more during the day, but still not tons. She looks a little like Reagan did.

Reagan loves it when you blow off the seeds on dandelions - she calls them bubbles.

Kennedy looks so precious when she sleeps. Frequently she will start laughing in her sleep - so funny!

We spent an afternoon at the Detroit Zoo. What was Reagan's favorite part? Dancing under the water!

Kennedy managed to stay awake for most of the zoo. She was a hit, everyone oohed and ahhed when we passed.

the good news

This week has been rough with Dad in the hospital, especially since we still don't know much. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow, and we are praying that it goes well. This week did bring one piece of good news, though... Kennedy doesn't have Cystic Fibrosis! Hooray!

Reagan can read! Well, not exactly. She doesn't sound out words yet, but she recognizes tons of words. Rick was testing her last week and found that she can "read" over 70 words. We write them on her doodle thing, and she tells us what the word is. Here are some of the words she can "read"...

• The numbers one through ten
• Mommy, Daddy, Reagan and Kennedy
• All of the planets, as well as galaxies, moon, sun, stars and space
• At least 20 animals
• All four seasons
• Some of the days of the week

There are more than those, but I'm not sure where Rick put the list. Those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head. Rick wants me to try to teach Reagan to sound out simple words by the time she is two. We'll see how that goes... My Aunt suggested we have her tested after reading this article. What do you think?
